A well made walnut crumble

Recipe: Walnut Crumble

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup rolled oats (recipe will be fully gluten free if GF oats are used, otherwise it is very low-gluten)
  • ½ cup walnut flour
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup desiccated coconut
  • ¼ cup walnut oil
  • ¼ cup coconut oil, melted (can substitute for butter, but the recipe won’t be dairy-free)

Method:

  1. Stewed or tinned fruit of choice (apples, pear and stonefruit work well. You can also add some berries, which don’t need to be cooked prior)
  2. Pre-heat the oven to 180 degrees C. Evenly spread the fruit in a baking dish.
  3. Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl, then add the walnut oil and coconut oil and stir until thoroughly combined. Chill slightly in the fridge so the mixture starts to firm up into clumps. 
  4. Spread the crumble mixture over the fruit and bake for around 20 minutes, or until the crumble is nicely browned. Stand to cool for 15 minutes before serving so the crumble is firm and crunchy.
