We have a great crop developing after a wet and warm spring. The spring conditions did raise the risk of increased bacterial blight but so far we appear not to have lost many nuts. (walnuts always suffer a bit of blight but it can be devastating under warm and wet spring conditions when the flowers are developing.) We are hoping for about 7 tonnes this year.
Our focus now is to keep the irrigation up to the trees and avoid any stress. We are continuing to fertigate (fish oil and kelp extract through the irrigation system) also for the next few weeks. We’ll keep you posted on the crop’s progress.
We plan to harvest from mid-April to mid-May.
